Surrounding conditions

Winter navigation

Surrounding Conditions such as outside temperature, sea water temperature and adjacent cargo as well as ballast water temperature should be reviewed and taken into consideration.

Low ambient temperatures or low adjacent cargo temperatures could cause undesired solidification or viscosity increase of a cargo in tanks and pipelines. This could result in clingage on tankwalls and pipelines or even blocking of pipelines.

High ambient temperatures could cause undesired increase of vapour pressure or even boiling of a cargo resulting in increased emission or change of cargo characteristics.
